Epitalon (epithalon)
Epithalone, Epitalone, AEDG, AEDG peptide, Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly
Forms: Injectable 'research' powder. Not the same as epithalamin, the pineal-gland extract it was modeled on.
A synthetic four-amino-acid peptide (Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly) modeled on epithalamin, a pineal-gland extract. Sold as an anti-aging 'longevity' peptide; human data are very limited.
Legal status: Not approved anywhere; sold as a 'research chemical'. A 2026 FDA advisory panel backed US compounding, which is not an approval. Banned in sport at all times (WADA S0).
What it gives
What people use it for and what the sources report. Strength is a general category from the literature: mild, clear or strong.
Purpose
Marketed to athletes for sleep, recovery and 'anti-aging'; it is not used to build muscle. Evidence comes from cells, rodents and flies plus a few clinical studies, the largest in 162 people with an inherited eye disease. Not approved as a medicine anywhere.
What people seek and what studies show
People hope for better sleep, recovery and slower aging. In cultured human cells epitalon raised telomerase activity and lengthened telomeres, but it also lengthened them in breast-cancer cells by another route (ALT). Animal lifespan results are mixed: longer in some mouse and fly studies, unchanged or even shorter in others. No controlled human study shows slower aging or better recovery.

Possible side effects
Possible does not mean certain: whether they appear depends on dose, duration, individual response and monitoring. Below — what to watch for and how to notice it early.

How to lower the risks
General ways to lower the chance of each side effect. No measure removes a risk completely.
Products obtained without a prescription are often fake, mislabeled or non-sterile, and there is no way to check at home. For legal supplements, look for third-party testing (Informed Sport, NSF).
What is unknown cannot be lowered, only avoided; tell your doctor what you have taken.
No check-up or blood test lowers this risk; avoid with any personal or family history of cancer.

Myth & fact
“Epitalon lengthens your telomeres and reverses aging.”
Telomeres grew in cells in a dish, cancer cells included; no human study shows that it slows or reverses aging.
